In Mold Labeling
Popular in Europe for nearly 20 years, Injection Mold Labeling is rapidly gaining market share in North America. General Press has been on the leading edge of this technology since 2001. Our level of expertise in this specialized packaging technology makes us a great choice for any molder interested in entering into this arena.
Injection IML (I-IML) is very different from Blow Mold Labeling. I-IML requires specialized molds and automation so that a label can be picked from a magazine, statically charged, and place inside the mold cavity. As the molten PP is injected into the mold and contacts the label, the label fuses to the part through heat and pressure and becomes an integral component of the part.
The advantages of I-IML decorating include:
- Unmatched quality of printed graphics
- One step manufacturing and decorating
- Less handling equates to less contamination
- Lower overall decorating costs
- The finished part is fully recyclable
Many different styles of polypropylene films are available in the market for I-IML applications. We stock clear film for the “no-label look,” white solid core and cast films for smooth, gloss finishes, or opaque cavitated for a matte textured finish. Some films may not be suited for all molded parts, so please consult with us to select the right film for your project.
Extremely accurate die cutting is critical to producing quality I-IML labels. At General Press, we have the capability to accurately cut small, medium and large format labels, up to 39.5 inches in width. We have several options for performing the required cutting, including counter pressure high die and magnetic rotary systems. No I-IML job is too large for General Press.

OPP
(Oriented Poly-Propylene) Film Labels
In the
competitive world of packaging, OPP films excel
in many performance areas compared with paper. Recycling
and durability favor OPP films and superior surface
finishes allow for outstanding eye catching graphics.
Clear films also allow for the increasingly popular
“no-label look.”
At General
Press, we are highly qualified to print OPP films
for cut and stack, patch, wrap, die-cut or in-mold
label applications. Our new MAN Roland 700 is equipped
with the most innovative equipment to feed, print
and dry even the lightest weight films.
For the
enhanced graphics of offset printing versus flexographic,
the appeal and durability of OPP films, plus the
competitive price advantage of being able to print
thin gauge films, General Press is uniquely qualified
as an OPP film label supplier.
